A beautiful Saturday morning, here in Victoria. We got to the market just as it opened at 9am and thus got first dibs on all the amazing fresh organic local produce that the growers bring in each week.
The lady I bought all this stuff from (in the photo) also had new potatoes this week that I didn’t notice last week. I got all these items for 20 bucks, so it was affordable indeed. 2 types of kale, beets (and their greens! yum), 2 bunches of beautiful organic carrots, some green onions, 2 different types of garlic, the first blueberries of the season, and these very interesting raspberries that have a much more woodsy flavour (I suspect they’re a different kind of berry, but the fellow there that was helping out just called them raspberries), and then a bag of organic green mix with edible flowers. A good haul!
We also bought an enormous basil plant from another fellow, the smell was heaven as I walked home with it right under my nose. 3 blocks of this amazing wafting basil smell. I will be spending a little more time out on my balcony with that beauty :D
